Can You Search a GST Number by Name?
No, not officially. The GST portal’s public taxpayer search works only with a GSTIN or a PAN, not a business name. Sites that claim to search by name use their own copied lists, which may be old or incomplete. This tool does not search by name either.
To get a business’s GSTIN, look at its tax invoice or bill (a GST invoice must show it), its letterhead or website, or simply ask the business. If you know its PAN, you can list its GSTINs on the GST portal. Once you have the GSTIN, type it above to see the registered legal name, trade name, status and address, and confirm it is the business you expect.
