FSSAI License

Selling food in India needs an FSSAI registration or licence. See which one you need, the documents and the yearly fee below.

Which FSSAI Licence Do You Need?

Every food business in India needs one of three FSSAI approvals, all applied for online on FoSCoS (foscos.fssai.gov.in). Basic registration is for small businesses such as home kitchens, small manufacturers and small online sellers. A State licence is for medium businesses, and a Central licence for large manufacturers, importers and businesses in several states. The turnover limits were revised in 2026, so confirm yours on FoSCoS before you apply.

Online sellers of snacks, spices, tea, pickles, sweets or supplements on Amazon, Flipkart or Meesho must show their FSSAI number on the label and in the listing. Pick your state and business type above, and choose Basic, State or Central to see the documents, yearly fee and time.
