Dimensional Weight Calculator

Dimensional weight (DIM weight) of a parcel from its size, in cm or inch, with your carrier’s divisor.

What is Dimensional Weight?

Dimensional weight, or DIM weight, is another name for volumetric weight: a weight worked out from the size of a parcel. Carriers use it so that big light parcels pay for the space they take on a van or plane.

DIM weight = length × breadth × height ÷ the carrier’s divisor. In India most couriers use 5000 with sizes in cm. International carriers often quote 5000 or 6000 in cm, and in inches some use 139 or 166. Enter your carrier’s number in the divisor box above.

Dimensional Weight Example

A 40 × 30 × 20 cm carton is 24,000 cubic cm. At a divisor of 5000 its dimensional weight is 4.8 kg, billed as 5 kg. If the carton weighs only 2 kg, you still pay for 5 kg.
