Is an E-way Bill Required? Check in Seconds
An e-way bill is an electronic document under GST that must travel with goods worth more than a set value. Moving goods without one when it is needed can lead to the vehicle being stopped and a penalty, so sellers, wholesalers and transporters check before every dispatch. This free e-way bill checker tells you whether your consignment needs one.
For inter-state movement, an e-way bill is needed when the consignment value is more than ₹50,000 in every state. Within a state, each state sets its own limit: ₹50,000 in most states, and ₹1 lakh in states such as Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu, with some goods exempt and some states only covering notified goods. Pick the from and to state and enter the value, and the checker applies the right limit and shows the state’s special rules.
Consignment value means the invoice value including GST, leaving out the value of exempt goods. Inter-state job work and handicraft goods need an e-way bill even below the limit.
E-way Bill Validity Calculator
An e-way bill is valid for one day for every 200 km of distance, or part of it; for over-dimensional cargo, one day for every 20 km. A day ends at midnight, not 24 hours after the bill is made: a one-day bill made on 4 November at 10 pm is valid till the end of 5 November.
Enter the distance and when the bill was made, and the calculator shows how many days it is valid and the exact date and time it expires. If the goods are delayed, the transporter can extend the bill from eight hours before to eight hours after it expires.
