Food License Means FSSAI
In India, the “food license” is the registration or licence from FSSAI, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. It covers anyone who makes, packs, stores, sells or delivers food: shops, restaurants, cloud kitchens, home bakers, wholesalers and online sellers.
Small businesses take Basic registration at ₹100 a year. Bigger ones need a State licence (₹2,000–₹5,000 a year) or a Central licence (₹7,500 a year). The application is online on FoSCoS; you don’t need to visit an office. The checklist above lists the documents for your business type.
